About Us

Knowledge, education and action for community transformation.

A community-driven NGO advancing inclusive education, literacy, mentorship and practical skills for sustainable development in Malawi.

Our Story

Founded on access to books and information.

The Kuwongola Initiative began with libraries as its foundation because access to books and information can be deeply transformative, especially in places where learning materials are scarce. At the start, the focus was simple but powerful: create spaces where children and young people could read, explore ideas, and discover that learning belongs to them. As the team listened to communities and walked alongside learners, it became clear that education is interconnected in ways that extend far beyond reading alone. Literacy leads to questions about careers, careers require practical skills, skills grow stronger with mentorship, and all of it depends on strong foundations built early in life.
